Micro-TESE Treatment: An Advanced Infertility Solution

Infertility is a common issue that affects many couples. For men, infertility can stem from a low sperm count or a complete absence of sperm (azoospermia). At Mediworld Fertility, we offer a solution to this issue: Micro-TESE. This state-of-the-art infertility treatment offers a range of benefits to those looking to start a family.

What is Micro-TESE?

Micro-TESE (Microdissection Testicular Sperm Extraction) is a surgical procedure designed to help men with low sperm count or no sperm count achieve pregnancy. The procedure involves the extraction of sperm directly from the testicles, providing a higher yield of viable sperm for use in assisted reproductive technologies such as in vitro fertilization (IVF).

The Micro-TESE Advantage

Micro-TESE offers several advantages over traditional infertility treatments, including:

  • High yield of viable sperm: Compared to other sperm retrieval methods, Micro-TESE provides a higher yield of viable sperm, increasing the chances of successful fertilization and pregnancy.
  • Improved sperm quality: The sperm extracted through Micro-TESE is often of higher quality, leading to better success rates in ART.
  • Minimally invasive: Unlike traditional treatments that require general anesthesia, Micro-TESE is minimally invasive and only requires local anesthesia, reducing the risk of complications.

Micro-TESE Procedure

The Micro-TESE procedure typically takes 2-3 hours and is performed on an outpatient basis. The patient will be given local anesthesia to numb the area, and the surgeon will make a small incision in the scrotum to access the testicles. The testicles are then examined under a microscope to locate pockets of sperm-producing tissue, which will be extracted using a specialized instrument. The extracted sperm is then processed and prepared for use in ART.

Recovery and Aftercare

Following the procedure, patients can expect some swelling and discomfort in the scrotum for a few days. Other than that, patients are able to return home the same day and resume normal activities.

Who is Eligible for Micro-TESE?

Micro-TESE is designed for men with low sperm count or no sperm count (azoospermia). This condition can be caused by a variety of factors, including congenital abnormalities, trauma, or medical conditions such as testicular cancer and mumps.

Preparation for Micro-TESE

Embryos are created in a lab at a fertility clinic through IVF. Sometimes the future parents use their own genetic material or in some cases, an egg donor is required.

For IVF treatment at Mediworld, one or two embryos are set in into a gestational carrier who gives birth to the baby. These carriers do not have any genetic connection to the delivered baby.
